As a postnatal doula, I’ll do everything possible to promote your wellbeing in the first weeks or months after delivery. The postnatal period is an intense one, when lots of different things happen at the same time: your body is recovering from all the changes from pregnancy and delivery, your body is going through new changes so that you breastfeed, some of your hormones are down low now (like  progesterone) while others are up high (like prolactin, which makes you more susceptible and sentimental, and oxytocin). Your life suddenly changes completely: you got a newborn totally dependent on you, if it’s your first child you’re learning how to take care of him/her, you deal with sleep deprivation, you don’t have time to do what you did before (house chores, for example), the world around you in your daily life is not familiar and you can feel lost, as if you don’t know who you are anymore.

The postnatal period is certainly the most intense one in the life of women who become a mother, and you don’t have to go through everything on your own. It’s ok to need help and to ask for help.

New mums need someone to look after them, to mother them, so that they can mother their baby.

It goes beyond what Plunket does for you – a very important job, no doubt, but with more focus on the clinical health of the baby and yours. A postnatal doula complements what Plunket or Tamariki Ora do – we don’t do any clinical performance, we’re not trained for that. We’re trained to help you:

– with the challenges of breastfeeding (when you choose to breastfeed)

– understand what is normal during these first few weeks or months after birth

– understand your own feelings

– with looking after a newborn or older baby (with tips to deal with crying, sleeping, breastfeeding, bathing time, establishing a routine…)

– have some time for yourself (even if a little one) to do whatever you want (bath? nap? a quiet cup of tea?)

– find other professionals you may need (lactation consultant, postnatal depression specialist, massage therapist and others)

– organise food for yourself and family

– with light house chores.

Every detail makes a difference for your postnatal experience. A Postnatal Doula can help you with lots of them.

I offer various formats of service, so you find one that suits you. Strict confidentiality is guaranteed.

LIFE-CHANGING PACKAGES  (Wellington/NZ)

Ideally a postnatal doula will meet you once or twice before your baby is born, so we can talk about the postnatal period for you to know what to expect, and especially to help you prepare for that. Together we can organise a postnatal plan (your needs, support crew, food, house chores, older children, breastfeeding “stations” and accessories…)  which will help you have a smoother transition to motherhood.

  • PACKAGE I

2 pre-natal visits/meetings in your house or at a café (60 to 90 minutes each) + 2 postnatal in-home sessions (2-3 hs each) + 24/7 online support through messenger/text/whatsapp/phone during validity of the contract

NZ$ 395.00

  • PACKAGE II

2 pre-natal visits/meetings in your house or at a café (60 to 90 minutes each) + 4 postnatal in-home sessions (2-3 hs each) + 24/7 online support through messenger/text/whatsapp/phone during validity of the contract

NZ$ 550.00

  • PACKAGE III

2 pre-natal visits/meetings in your house or at a café (60 to 90 minutes each) + 6 postnatal in-home sessions (2-3 hs each) + 24/7 online support through messenger/text/whatsapp/phone during validity of the contract

NZ$ 710.00

You can hire Package I and upgrade it to Package II or III at any moment (doula being available) for the difference in the price.

Extra sessions hired after Package III: NZ$ 90.00 each

ONLINE SUPPORT (wherever you are!)

Sometimes during the postnatal period all you need is someone to talk to openly, with no fear of being judged or misunderstood. An online consultation with a postnatal doula is perfect in this case.

In our conversation – on skype, messenger (video), duo or any other application you prefer to use – you’ll be able to share your feelings (and I will normalise them for you), to solve doubts you may have about taking care of the baby and of yourself, about breastfeeding, or anything else you’d like to talk. You will have scientific based information and tips to deal with the challenges with confidence and comfort. You’ll certainly leave our conversation satisfied and happy about the choices you’re making in the beginning of your motherhood journey.

We will allow a whole hour for the start of our session, because we know during the postnatal period things can be unpredictable and it may be hard to be on time. For instance, we will set from 1pm-2pm, I will be connected and available during the whole hour and you can call me whenever you’re ready. Only then we consider the session started. Each online session takes between 60 and 90 minutes.

NZ$ 85.00
